I enjoy a lot of modern authors like James Patterson, Mary Higgins Clark, and Janet Evanovich. Usually whatever book they write, I enjoy.
I also enjoy stuff written by Agatha Christie and Edgar Alan Poe.

Old world would be sherlock holms. Victoria Holt is a little too lets let the men save the day all the time for my taste. I tried Agatha Cristy but I just don't like her characters they don't sound catchy to me.
Modern well my fave is the Kinsley Millone seris by Sue Grafton. Funny, interesting, makes u wonder what is wrong with the woman's taste buds to make her think peanut butter and pickle sandwichs taste good.
Mary Higgens Clark books but u will notice how her writting rhythum after three books.
Theres also a Mary Clark something woman who writes mystery novels too but I forget her whole name it may be clarkson anyway she's a NBC producer for the news and her books are similar to Mary Higgin's Clark.

My well known (well known well known well known) secret e book is _Birds Of A Feather_, with the help of Jacqueline Winspear. that is particularly the main nicely written secret novel i've got ever study. notwithstanding, in case you have been going to study BoaF, then i might propose reading the 1st e book contained in the sequence; _Maisie Dobbs_, which does a best suited interest of introducing the heroine. The secret in _Maisie Dobbs_ is very stable too-- yet not as stable as _Birds of a Feather_. notwithstanding, in case you land up falling in love with those 2 books as I even have, i don't propose the third e book contained in the sequence; _Pardonable Lies_. i became not a fan. i've got not particularly had a raffle to study the fourth e book; _Messenger of Truth_, yet. As for my well known secret author-- that's a tie between Dick Francis (my well known of his is _To The Hilt_) and the aforementioned Jacqueline Winspear.
