It varies a bit, but most about the size of a fingernail, but they are getting smaller all the time.

Every microprocessor has different die size.
High end chip (especially true for graphic processor) are larger, simply because they have more symmetric processors as compared to lower end chip.

Just search for die size at google, for the particular chip you're looking for.
