Okay, traditional decorations show santa and sleigh gliding through the sky in front of the FULL MOON.
Traditional Halloween scenes depict the witch, flying through the air on her broom in front of the FULL MOON.
Whats up with this???
We hardly ever have a full moon on either holiday!!!
By the way, I am Wiccan and worship the moon (in any stage) as a SYMBOL of the Goddess.

Just artistic license as it probably looks better than in front of a gibbous or partial moon.

Without the moon, we would not even have life as we know it. The moon is actually the "Christ". The myths/tales of all the crucified saviors/born of a virgin etc are all about the event that formed the moon.
