never thought of that! I don't think my behaviour is odd to me though but I might just use that phrase you have when someone thinks I'm doing something odd!
I might modify and say.. what? am I not allowed to upgrade myself? Allow they might say oh that's downgrading not upgrading!

I always go with "Scanning for viruses....45% complete" and people leave me alone.
You would think I would say that in a computer voice, but I find that an Elvis impersonation gets better results - as in, people leave me alone even faster!!! :D
