...he pulls a knife but, in a lightning fast move more fluke than skill, you manage to push him away before he can swing at you; shocked, you watch as he falls back to crack his head on the pavement and is stone dead in the blink of an eye.

From a previous story you saw in an old local paper you relaise the man is a repeat offender who always manages to get away with little more than a caution or very short spell in prison despite multiple counts of mugging, armed robbery and even rape, on one occassion. And now he's in front of you, dead.

You look around at the deserted street; definitely no witnesses or cameras. You aren't from the neighbourhood so no passers-by would notice you hop in to a nearby bus, and it's November so you're wearing gloves; no forensics either. You used to date a police officer anyway, a long time ago, so you know what to look for and you could get away scot free.

So do you just walk away and forget it ever happened or call the law?

Who did you kill, greenhorn?

I'd probably call the law. If people on the news would just confess to accidents, they would get away with it easier then not telling anyone and then get busted five years later.

Besides, I couldn't live with myself knowing that I had killed a person.

It is very unlikely that you would truly have left no forensic evidence. Even if today's methods cannot detect your presence at the scene and your involvement, future methods may well be able to. Crimes are being solved now that were committed 20 or more years ago because of improvements in forensic detection methods. But to answer your question, no, I would not leave the scene and I would not even try to "get away with it"

I would call the police in a second.
In this day and age there is always someone around, plus i would always feel i'd be waiting for the cops to come calling and it looks a lot guiltier if you ran rather than confessed.
No judge in the land would convict someone of a crime like this.
Interesting question though have a star.

don't think i am shallow or something but if american idol or dancing with the stars is on i would go home. and another thing is you don't know this guy could have crazy friends or family and maybe you in some weird way would see you as the killer . trust me i am around crazies i know how they think. i can not believe what friends of crazies do so i pick going home. i say what goes around comes around. but if i am feeling like i want to get involued but to tell you the truth once he hit the pavement i would of run like a wild horse . lol

Kick the chav over and over, beat him with a large implement or stick just to make sure, cut him into bite size pieces then get in touch, i'll throw him into sheffield forgemasters No.1 furnace for you, small fee. Evidence removed.

You could always confess go down for a few years but have the right to wear a t-shirt "I KILL MUGGERS". My life ambition is to own a t-shirt "I KILL BURGLARS" only ever caught one but he could run faster than me with the 7 iron.

Call the law.

There's nothing to hide because you didn't do anything wrong and instead of leaving a dead body lying there it's best to get the situation handled now instead of leaving and chancing leaving a hair behind that they can track you with and then looking guilty because you ran.

At least that's how I see it.

Walk away after setting fire to him to make sure of even less forensic evidence if there was any in the first place .

I think I would have to call the law. I'd be forever looking over my shoulder otherwise. One of those permanent guilty people....even if I havn't done anything wrong lol.
