Yes, Area 51 is a map reference for the Groom Lake Air Force base in Nevada. It is a research establishment at which new technologies and aircraft are tested.
Note, however, it is not actually called Area 51, that is just a reference on a particular land map of the area. Its existence is not a secret (you can see it on Google Earth, and in any case a huge facility like an air force base is hard to hide), but what goes on there is, as would be expected of a military base developiong new technology (you don't want everyone to know what you're working on, or it gives you no advantage in a conflict).
Among other things, the U-2, SR-71 and F-117 aircraft were developed and flown there.

section 51 does exist. no person can deny that, nevertheless the government does not call it that. that is asserted as Groom Lake by potential of maximum. the only rivalry is what occurs at section 51. Many see it as a try internet site for brand spanking new flight technologies, such because of the fact the Stealth fighter, yet there are people who have faith we've alien technologies there.

you know the military and misinformation... some bright young lad convinced the brass that if they 'leak' a few rumors, even pay a few people to squeel about 'aliens and floating saucer-craft' that maybe the public will be distracted from the REAL research craft. After all, he reasoned, who do you want hanging around the Ford proving grounds... spies from GM or kooks with tinfoil hats?
But... as practically all military intelligence project do... this one backfired. THOUSANDS of guys in tinfoil hats showed up! It was such a bother that most of the really secret stuff had to be moved to a hanger in New Jersey... wait, you didn't hear that from me.

Of course it exists and while all the freaks that think we are hiding something there. The military has it all stored in other bases you want to find the alien space craft quit looking in Nevada. They probably have it in New Mexico somewhere in white sands.

Yes, it's a real location in Nevada.
I won't sit here and tell you that they keep aliens there though. That's all just speculation.
The place itself is real.
