I have a teacher who calls on you even if you didn't raise your hand. So, I end up nervously giving stupid answers. Will this cause her to grade my papers with bias? Like if I deserve an A do you think she'll give a B+.What does this say about me as a student? This is really stressing me out!

Pay attention in class at all times, so that you'll be prepared if she calls on you. If she calls on you, relax, don't get nervous, and think for a second. If you make a mistake in an oral answer, you could talk to her about it after class. In all your classes, force yourself to raise your hand when questions are asked. This will give you practice at answering questions, and then you'll feel more comfortable doing it.

I am also better at expressing myself in written form. I then have the time to think clearly and get myself settled.

If your teacher is wise she'll recognize the quality of your written work and give you the grade on it that you deserve, hopefully.

Your grade for the course might be slightly lowered if your verbal answers are part of the grade. It is fair to evaluate how you think on your feet after all. Next time you get asked a question in class, take a few seconds to think about it without saying anything. Don't rush into your answer and stumble. It's OK to reflect on the question for a bit.
