Does anyone know if there is such thing as a fire proof mat that goes under the kiln? It is suppose to be rubber.

Thanks..

Sure. It is metal on one side with a thin insulating fire proof panel on the other (to keep fallen hot stuff from heating the floor through the metal). Most kiln suppliers should have them as well a people who sell wood stoves.
Paragon Kilns is in Dallas not far from me http://www.paragonweb.com/ and you might ask them for sources. Really awkward to ship.
There is a rubberized surface tor feet comfort that does not burn if hot glass is dropped on it, saw it in a studio in Seattle, but it does not qualify as a heat barrier.

I doubt it's from rubber. There are ceramic fiber blankets which is used as insulation material.
I would use a couple or a layer of fire bricks or use a kiln shelf.
