what will happen if we connect sealed lead acid battery to an alternating current directly ?( I didn't recharge my emergency light for 4 months or so,I want to know how to remove the sulphate formation over the electrodes.

It depends on the frequency of the alternating current and the capacitance of the battery.

If your talking about the mains I would expect it to explode.

Batteries are recharged with DC slightly above the rated voltage. AC would destroy the battery. If all you want to do is clear the terminals, use a wire brush for lead or Scotch Bright for plated copper, depending on the battery.

coca-cola actually works really well for removing the build-up off batteries. Pour some on it and let it sit for about 10 minutes then wipe it off.
