I was born in May so my birthstone is emerald. What i8s the meaning of emerald?

Emerald is the green variety of the beryl gemstone. Emerald aids in the healing of the physical and emotional body. When worn, emeralds bring life, heals mental and emotional causes of physical illness. Emerald uplifts and vitalizes your body as a whole, by strengthening your body's weakest link, which in turn makes it easier for you to open to higher states of consciousness.

Uh, yea, I was going to answer this, but Queen of the Tofu People has it, I think. I could just add that your birthstones are supposedly lucky because they represent the source of your energy, when you were born, according to ancient knowledge, scripture and traditon. Each year, around your birthday, about 5 days on either side of your birthday, give or take a few days, depending on what you believe, you're supposed to feel more energized than at other times of the year. Certain stones were chosen for each month, why, I don't know, and I'm not sure I believe in it, but this is the tradition anyway, and it is interesting.
