Summer is really hot here. You have no idea how hot hot can be until you actually experience it. July and August are the hottest months. However, it is the cheapest and least crowded times to come. If you do not mind HOT .. that is the best time.

To stay ten days can be either too short or too long. If you are coming from over seas then I would stay as long as possible to balance out the long expensive travel time. If you are coming from within the US then I would come for a shorter time period to experience Vegas and you can plan what to do on your next visit. The majority of people get hooked on coming back on their first visit. This is due to all the things to do here. You can not even imagine until you get here. So I would stay the shortest time and figure on coming back.

Budgeting is an experiment in progress. Not knowing your eating habits, your entertainment preferences, basically what makes you go "WOW" you have to figure at least $200 a day per person. Stick to the budget on your first trip and you can see what things cost. Eating can be cheap or expensive. I know what you are thinking .. I can always eat at McDonalds. However you may find that could be more expensive than the restaurants at the casinos. After a couple of days you can adjust your budget accordingly.

On one visit here I tried to see how frugal I could be and I spent $100 in one week. With all the free things to see and do it can be done. Use all the coupons available and stay away from the top shows. You can have a great time and still go home with money.

The person who goes home with money left over from his budgeted amount of money is considered a winner here.

A week and a half is plenty of time in Vegas. Things are not as cheap as they once were either. Barring hotel charges I use the following budget model:

Gambling: $100/day, minimum. Budget this and STICK TO IT. When you're finished for the day, that's it. Do not try to "win back" any losses or you will lose more.
Food: $50-$100/day
Shopping: count on $500 minimum
Shows: count on at least $120 for one show.
Attractions: $30-$80/day
Car rental: $99/day + waiver insurance $20/day
Total for the above for 1 week = $2615 (assuming max amounts)
For a week and a half add another $300 - $600.

The best time of year to go to Las Vegas is in the summer because of the lower prices. If you are going to just gamble, then you do not want to stay more than 4 days. Get a package deal that includes your airfare, hotel. Do not rent a car. The best place to stay in Las Vegas is downtown. It offers the Fremont Street experience and it is so much friendlier and easier to walk to each casino. If you want to go out on the strip to see all the casinos, go to the bus station and take a bus and spend the day. Make sure you know which bus to get back on to go back to downtown. The worst time of day to go back downtown is late afternoon. If you stay downtown, stay at the Golden Nugget or Fitzgeralds. They are both clean and great places to gamble. There is a great place downtown at the top end of Fremont Street called the Las Vegas Club. They offer a great breakfast after 11:00 p.m. for $1.99. You'll love Las Vegas. Enjoy!

I disagree with everyone else. Everytime i go, i go for a week.. and cry when i have to leave.. lol. If i could take off more work, i'd definately go longer... I always find stuff to do when i'm there... I don't gamble much... and theres so much free / cheap things to do or see there.. go see the grand canyon and hoover dam - Read up before you go... knowing about the city before i went for the first time, really helped me save a lot.

I don't really gamble, so even $50 a day is more than enough for me on an average day (not counting shopping or if i go see a show or go to NICE dinner)... eating in vegas can be REALLY cheap, or REALLY expensive.. Ive had 200 dollar lunches, and ive had 5 dollar dinners...

look in the local magazines, you can find lots of coupons and 2 for 1 buffets... even some shows..

also if you want to see shows, try TIX4TONITE booths, they have show tickets for half price...

as for time of the year, id try and stay away from peak season, and convention dates - i don't enjoy fighting people for the sidewalks.. it gets crazy busy.

I actually stay downtown or off strip when i go.. its less crowded and much cheaper....

ive been to vegas a few times in sept and oct and it has been very hot so these would be my favourite times to go but see which is your best deal with your travel agent.
hotels well you can ring direct and book a hotel of your choice then the flight seperatley if you want its slighty cheaper but more hassle then just getting hotel and package but ive got to recommend the MGM grand were i stayed the hotel is amazing it took us 3 days just to find were macs was in the hotel it has a mono rail that runs through it even if you dont stay there just go to the mgm even to visit the restraunts no need to book just que up at the entrance inside the huge casino best food you will ever eat and it wil cost you next to nothing.
if you want to stay in vegas for a low budget we went to the remarda apartments one year so thats an option
a week is long enough in vegas you need to be careful with your money if your gambling every night you must go on the grand canyon trip and to some shows also go up the stratosphere its brill walk the strip enjoy

In my opinion a week and a half will be far too long, i visited this summer, July, and it was 100 degrees at midnight so it is very very hot. i wasn't impressed with it and to be honest i was disappointed. I am not a gambler but had a few goes on the slot machines, i enjoyed it, but i only went for one night as we were driving elsewhere the following morning. I'm really glad i went and i experienced Vegas, however it reminded me of a very hot Blackpool!! I wouldn't go again and i wouldn't have wanted to spend more than 1 night there. The hotel was about £300 for the night but we stayed in Caesars Palace as we were only staying the one night and we thought that was a treat. The hotel was breathtaking and huge but again i would rather stay somewhere less expensive with a bit more character and charm.

As for the time of year...That all depends on where you live and what weather you are used to. The summer time is known as CHEAP time...it's hotter than hell!!!
(The saying here is..."If someone tells you to "Go to hell" back home then come on to Vegas in the summer..you might as well have a good time in Hell!!)
As for the money part...Vegas is a town where you can spend as much or as little as you want...
The time element is a personal thing...You can stay a night or two or a month or two...There are so many side trips and things to do...you will never be without anything to do.
Just have fun...what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!!!

it relatively is an overpowering generalization. - case in point the Orleans on line casino is an rather large off-strip hotel/on line casino on Tropicana Ave some a million.5 miles from the intersection of Tropicana and Las Vegas Blvd. a sprint nearer to the expressway is the Wild Wild West on line casino it relatively is significantly sleazier for the reason that there is super truck parking zone for in one day maintains to be. - undesirable's on line casino is a low fee on line casino it relatively is interior of strolling distance of inauspicious Rock. people who desire to spend time at difficult Rock, yet can no longer have sufficient funds the rather severe priced rooms. - There are relatively some very luxury hotel/casinos that are in all the suburban neighborhoods. - there is probable the main important hotel 6 interior the country close to the airport (approximately 600 rooms). those with pets stay there because of the fact casinos won't enable canines or cats. it relatively is an rather run-down place, plenty decrease high quality than you may routinely see in a hotel 6.

I have been most times of the year, and weather wise October has been the best for me- not too hot but plenty of sunbathing time.

Food is as cheap or as expensive as you like, from $1 maccy d's to $100 steaks and about everything inbetween.

Travelling around depends on where you are staying. On the strip you can get a day pass on the Duce to travel up and down all day. Taxis can get expensive especially if they get trapped in traffic.

Gambling- well thats up to you. If you are gonna try table games try to learn paigow poker that game probably gives you the most play for your bux,

a week and a half is too long. unless you're planning on taking tours to the grand canyon, hoover's dam and other such places around vegas.
the things there obviously aren't cheap, so be sure to bring sufficient cash or a credit card!
watching shows there is a must, and that comes to about 70 US for a cheap seat(although circuscircus has discounts on almost every show). for food, 7 dollars is for cheap fast food. don't eat at the hotels( around $20 for a plate of noodles) but we got a huge ribeye with soup for 10.99 at circuscircus.

the cheapest tours are around 60 bucks, all the way to 300 for a grandcanyon helicopter ride(!!!)

hope this helps!
