With his court vision and superior passing, his style of basketball is perfect for the run and gun style of the Phoenix Suns. But as we've seen in the last few seasons, even though Phoenix has had arguably the most talented team in the whole league, they can't seem to get anywhere with their run and gun basketball.
But if Steve Nash was to get traded to another team, he would have to adjust his style more fittingly for a defensive team.
My question is, even with Steve's talent how effective he be if he was the point guard of championship teams like Heats, Spurs or Pistons? The defensive style of these teams are something that Steve is not accustomed to since he is not exactly a very strong defensive player.

But say if nash was traded to a team like san antonio, how effective would he be, since spurs make defense their number one priority, his defensive liability would be more evident than ever. I asked this question mainly because ive seen how suns have been doing the last few seasons and they don't seem to be getting anywhere, and i assume nash would want a ring before he retires, so if he was to be traded to a team like the spurs, would he play a big part in the success of a team that makes defense a priority.

it is possible, the only problem is the spurs are in their way, if they can get over that hump, sure they can take it all the way. I think the only teams where he would be as good as he is now may be atlanta, with all their athletic young guns. I don't see him playing well with the spurs, nobody on that team is explosive except for manu. The spurs rely on duncans post game to win games. When the team is in need of controlling the pace and scoring, they almost always go to the post with duncan. They don't rely on penetration, slashing, and dishing like the suns do. He was good in dallas, but nowhere near what he is now with the suns, he doesn't compliment dirk very well, since dirk is a jump shooter. nash needs guys that attack the rim, like marion and amare. Heat and spurs won't be a good fit either. Wade needs the ball in his hands to create for himself. Pistons, he might be able to fit the role, since their players can run and will, but they already have a good genera in billups.

The Suns offense is set around the play of Steve Nash and is designed to complement his unbelievable talent. Steve Nash would never be as good a player on any other team not using the up and down the court running game. I do believe the Suns could win a championship with their style of play.

steve nash may seem like he is lacking in defense only because his offensive skills are so superior. He has incredible court sense which helps offensively and defensively. Of course he can win a championship with his style of play - he makes every player on his team look better. By the way - I am a Celtics fan not a suns fan.

The Suns had a window final 365 days. they gained't win a Championship attempting to play Shaq at center. Shawn Marion became an excellent loss, they do no longer the alternative of spreading the floor anymore. D'Antoni became an excellent coach. this is unlucky yet Steve Kerr on my own is the reason of the downfall of this group.
