I am able to walk to and from work barefooted, but I am not allowed to be barefoot at work.

Hi, I do live in Switzerland and I am always barefoot!
Other then during very official meetings or events I never wear shoes. People - rich or basic do get use to it and if 1 does a good job, why not barefoot. And I do have an exposed job! Of course filthy soles are not everyone’s favourite, but shoe designs are also very depending on taste.

Try it out

Yes, in fact I don't think any of my colleagues have ever seen me in footwear. I'm a guide at a history theme park now, working in a prehistoric setting, but I've also worked at an internet helpdesk barefoot, and a couple temp jobs in winter.

Not in Canada.
Unless you have your own business, work in your own home or garden and no-one cares, but as a rule it is not done.
Why, because our pavements are hot or cold, depending on the year. It is also unsanitary as feet do get germs.
Shoes are worn because of the pounding we take when we walk so they cushion our feet.
There are also stones, nails, etc. that can get into your feet.
Hope that helps you.

No and I wouldn't if I could. I would at least wear flip-flops. 2D
