I'm an English teacher, I have this gang of three jerks in my class, they're rude, and not decipliend in any sense of the word. I ignored them for two sessions, I didn't greet them, didn't ask them questions and it really worked. They were bored to tears and that was exactly what I wanted. Today I saw them coming outta the dean's office but the dean hasn't talked to me yet. Do you think I should keep ignoring them?

as a teacher myself... i would purposely ask them questions... to make sure they are paying attention... even if they are not doing the work... if you catch their attention during class and can make it interesting they might even want to do the work.. if not, do your job and grade them accordingly... if you just cant get them to work then at least do your part and if it doesnt work, fail them.... nothing wakes a student up quicker than a F... when they ask why, tell them straight up.... if you gave out the objectives of the class early on and they understood them, then they have no fight... you have to do your job though, and that is to teach... even the hard ones still have to learn, one way or another... good luck and dont give up

Sounds like you're a typical American teacher, to me. You only want to teach the easy ones. What you need is a real job. Of course you wouldn't get twelve weeks off every summer at taxpayer expense.
