How would owr standard of living be different.

The stock market adds value and efficiency to corporate investment by making investments liquid, but start up capital and much of the funds needed for expansion is still provided by individuals, bank loans, or private investment groups. Without the stock market we would still be an industrialized country, but with a little lower standard of living.
