No I don't think so. Jordan was not that kind of player to go out & try to score that many pts. If he wanted too yes I think he could have if he shot the ball as much as Kobe did when he lit it up.

Jordan is the greatest scorer of all time no question but he would not avg 40 points or get 80 points on a good night in today's game because think about it teams in the 80's/90's avg about 110-120 PPG now its down to 95-100 PPG because NBA is played different now.Back then it was more "how can we score more" style now its more about defense and execution.Theres a lot more intelligent defensive schemes now and teams pride themselves on the defensive end now more than ever before [ex. teams like the grizzlies, pacers, bulls].Also it seems like every coach is preaching defense now. Offense is more about execution now back then it was more "hero ball" now teams run the shot clock down {ex.spurs, miami] to find the best shot available.I do agree with the fact that it was played more physically back then but look at great scorers like Lebron,Kobe,Carmelo,Durant even w/o hand checking great defensive teams can slow these guys down using different tactics. You know hand-checking is not the only way to stop a player from scoring. Well a very long question deserves a very long answer ;)

Michael Jordan could have scored 100 even when he played. He never did becuase he never needed to. The only reason Kobi did was because the rest of his team sucks so he isn't afraid to be a ball hog and shoot 50 times in a game. If Jordan, in his prime, were on the current Lakers team, he might average 50 pts a game.

He could if he wanted to. As long as it was in the years of Chicago why not? Todays game is a joke compared to when Jordan,Magic,Bird,Barkley,Malone, and Barkley played.
You can't even imagine. But Jordan is not that kind of player. He could have scored 100 back in the day if he wanted to. But his game is about winning and not the same as Kobe.

If Jordan was playing today, (in his prime), then he could probably score a 100 points if given the opportunity.

No, he was always a team player and had a great team around, maybe the most underrated team ever (Pippen, one of the NBA's Top 50 players, Rodman, a rebounding machine, Harper, a great passer) but if he was on the Lakers, I think that he might.

sure he can, if he wanted to play like that he could, but mj came through in the end, his teammates werent jsut scrubs. He got them going early and kept them in the game and closed it out himself at the end, when they needed him to. The zone defense might have bothered him since in his prime, he was posting up guys a lot and just shooting over them. Different time though, and guys nowadays are a lot more athletic, so we would never know.
oh and i i agree with frizzer, he might break the assist records. All he would need are shooters, this guys post game is just ridiculous, he would surely get double tripled teamed in the post.

Not now. If he couldn't do it when he came back in Washington he cant now. I'm sure he is still in great shape but there is a difference between great shape at his age as a retired athlete and great shape for a 25 yr old pro athlete.
