THE VICTORIANS do you like them ??they annoy me with there arogance?

is it me or were they really arrogant, wicked ,obsessed by class ,
thought they were a superior race ,pompous,to strict , why do they get so much positive press ?, what about the negatives

i prefer the Britts when they were tribal myself
or the saxons

i know they were great builders,and of industry and great innovators ,ect ,ect , il give them that

You can't argue with what they achieved though. It still amazes me what they did in terms of construction at indusrty at the time. Britian was the first indusrial nation and they were pushing boundaries and treading ground that had never been covered. In London many of the sewage systems, underground train networks etc is still a legacy of theirs.

You may say they have very different values to us today but that was just a sign of the times. People may look back on us now and think we are idiots for killing the planet with pollution.

I admire the Victorians.

there's an old American saying, attributed to a Southern baseball player called Dizzy Dean, that "It ain't boasting if you did it".....

considering that the Victorians built and / or inherited a world spanning Empire, with something like the rule of law extended to 2/3rds of the world that had never known it, the advancements in education and health and science and engineering.....well, it would be hard to be modest with all that on your resumes.......

ah come on! i'm sure some day in the future the future will look upon us and say the same. cut 'em some slack and move on, learn from their mistakes and try not to repeat. every generation has their highs and lows, us too! each of us has our demons so smile, have another cup of coffee and go for that last bowl of ice cream.
