First of all, is there an statistic that says Asians have higher suicide rate than their western counterpart. If it is true then culture has somehting to do with it. In Japan , honor is valued. That is why if they fail, they have no face to show, they commit suicide. They would rather die than be caught, like what happened during the WWII
Religion has also something to do with it. Suicide bombers are told that they will live a much better life awaiting them in after life.

I think it's because of the culture of certain east Asian countries. People there are under a lot of pressure to succeed at everything they do. They must do extremely well in school, they must work very hard and be successful. They are under a lot of stress, because they don't want to bring shame onto themselves and their family.
When something goes wrong in their life (if they are not as successful as is expected of them) some of them commit suicide. Some also just can't take all this stress and commit suicide in some sort of desperation.

Asian kids are heavily pressured into educations and driven to success by their parents. If they failed, it's probably the end of the world for them, because it brings family shame and humiliations.
Asian kids shoot for Harvard, Yale, or Princeton, not some state schools.
