Absolutely....I have a staff of 25 women and 4 men, and nearly every week someone will need to come in for a chat about things happening at home or in their private life. I am easy to talk to, I can be trusted, I do not judge, am completely open minded.

Yes, validation is the most important thing to people. They want to feel that they have a right for being upset and they want someone to just agree that they have this right, not necessarily whether or not they are right or wrong. Then assuring them you will help find an answer or someone who can helps even more.

Yes if I'm interested in doing so.
Recently a person I know lost a daughter. This person is someone I normally dislike. But when I saw him days after his daughter died. I put my dislike for him aside. And just thought about what he must be going through.. I spoke to him for awhile. His wife mentioned the talk I had with him, when I saw her last. It seems he was comforted by the things I had said.

I like to think I am.
Sometimes, I can totally calm a person down.
But, sometimes, it's just hopeless.

I would like to think so. When I comfort someone they usually appreciate it.
