For the Patriots, what would be more impressive?

A .. To have a 16-0 regular season, but NOT win the Superbowl

OR

B .. To have a 15-1 regular season, and win the Superbowl?

basebfan ... Thanks for your answer, but when the 72 Dolphins went undefeated, it was only a 14-game season, not a 16-game season. So, the 72 Dolphins total record was 17-0. ..

.. If the 2007 Patriots go undefeated, they will have a 19-0 total record.

I'd definitely say A if the Miami Dolphins hadn't gone 16-0 awhile back. But, I will still go with A because everyone thinks that the Patriots are going to win the Super Bowl, but because of the team's wins in the Super Bowl, I think that 16-0 season would be more impressive.

B. Going undefeated is a rare feat, but that shouldn't be the main focus on a head coach's mind. And true in fact, it isn't the main focus on Bill Belichick's mind as he said in an interview. They go out there and win games, they don't expect much, they just try their hardest to bring home another victory. Going undefeated is a bonus reward. It's like when you're really good at doing your job, you get a big bonus. A team shouldn't go out there to be undefeated, that's why there has only been 1 team to accomplish the feat. Winning the Super Bowl should be the second focus. Winning that Lombardi Trophy is the most accomplished feat in all of football and it's a great honor. That's what teams should look forward to, not some undefeated record. Sure the undefeated record is more rare than a Super Bowl win, but it's the greatest honor to win the Super Bowl.

If you do not win the Superbowl, your season was a bust, no matter what team your on. you can go 16-0 win the MVP and get 5 records, but if you dont win the Superbowl, all was for nothing

The first option would be more historic, but the second would be more impressive. Their remaining regular season games don't really mean much of anything. It's the playoff games that really count, and even if they only went 15-1 it would still be a dominant season and their 4th Super Bowl title. Then the question would be can they become the greatest dynasty ever over the next couple of years?

I think they'll go undefeated, the entire season... I don't think they'll lose in the regular season, or in the post season... they have too much momentum, at this point.

(btw.. the Patriots already hold the most consecutive wins record, at 21 regular season wins. )

It would be considered a disappointment if they don't win the Super Bowl. If they go all the way (win SB with 19-0 record), they will certainly go down as one of the most dominant teams in NFL history.

A. They won superbowls already and everyone is sick of Don's Shula Dolphins talking about they were the only team to ever accomplish this.
