I am looking for a new or secondhand diesel flat four engine. Who knows if one is produced and by whom?
I need a lightweight, low profile diesel engine for a project.

Do you mean a boxer engine? None exist that I know of.

There is no such thing, as far as I'm aware, as a flat (boxer) type Diesel engine. If it's a flat, lightweight engine you're after, the possibilities are; old Alfa Romeos, original VW Beetle, Citroen 2CV (a VERY small, light engine, you could lift one up yourself), and current Subaru engines, but none are Diesels, which by the way, are always heavy engines due to the internal force of the Diesel combustion process.
The only other option would be to use a small Citroen or Peugeot Diesel and turn it on its side, I can't think of any practical reason why an engine won't work tilted over.

Subaru have recently announced at flat-4 diesel engine, which will go on sale in European versions of the Impreza and Legacy next year.

This is claimed to be the first flat-4 turbodiesel ever fitted in a production car.

Alfa-Romeo use flat four engines in some of their cars and now fit diesels too. Perhaps they are suitable?
