i bought my mum two tickets to go and see Celine Dion (she has adored celine dion for years) for her and a friend as a christmas present, but every time we get on the subject of christmas presents, she always tells me not to spend more than about £30 on her (i spent 200!) Im worried as to what she'll say when i give them her.

would you be happy with the present or should i be cancelling?

All mums say things like that. They want the very best for you and in their protective way, trying to save you money seems to be a good thing for them to do.

It's a lovely gift and if you can't splash out on your mum every now and again then who can you spend it on?

She might make a fuss and say that it's too much but just tell her that she means the world to you and it makes you happy to find her a special present.

Anyway, she doesn't have to know how much they cost does she?

No don`t cancel, it`s a lovely present and very thoughtful. I`m sure when she recieves them she will be very pleased. Just say ok when she say`s about how much to spend to keep her off the scent of what you have bought.....

She ought to be delighted. I'd certainly be happy (If I liked Celine Dion!) although I'd tell you you shouldn't have spent so much. Don't cancel and don't tell her how much they cost!

She'll be happy. It's the thought that counts, and that is a thoughful present. A little expensive, but not in a showy way or something that she will hate.

My Mum always says not to buy her anything for Christmas, but I always ignore her and buy something and she's always delighted with it.

Your Mum will love your present no matter how much you've spent on it.
