When you are dividing fractions, you actually take the second number and flip it, and multiply. So,

7/8 divided by 1/2 is actually 7/8 multiplied by 2/1.

then you just go 7 x 2 = 14 for numerator of your final answer and.... 8 x 1 = 8 for denominator

So, final answer is 14/8 which can be reduced to 7/4

Do the samething for the second question.

1/4 divided by 3/8 is actually 1/4 multiplied by 8/3
1 x 8 = 8 for numerator. and 4 x 3 = 12 for denominator

So, final answer is 8/12 which can be reduced to 2/3

Hope that helps. =)

(7/8) / (1/2) = (7/8) X (2/1) = 14/8 = 7/4

(1/4) / (3/8) = (1/4) X (8/3) = 8/12 = 2/3

(7 / 8) = dividend
(1 / 2) = divisor

there's a rule(i think it's a rule or technique) that when you divide fractions you get the reciprocal(inverse) of the divisor and multiply it with the dividend ...so
1/2 can be written as 2/1 or simply 2

then
(7/8) * (2)
= (7/4)*1 [--> reduce to simplest form if possible)
= 7/4

2] (1/4) / (8/3)
= (1/4) * (3/8) (reduce this to simplest form)
= (1/1) * (2/3) or 1 * (2/3)
= 2/3

there you go....
