The republicans will answer this question as follows: You hate America.
The decent people will say: "Of course not".
A Christian would say: "It is inhuman and anti christian to imprison and waterboard anyone"

Well, the administration got the attorney general and others in the justice department to say waterboarding is not torture, and then they got a CIA attorney to say it was ok to destroy hundreds of hours of interrogation tapes, so maybe none of this ever happened...

If the " United Nations ", says it is OK. If a terrorist state does
it. Well you know that's just fine. They are allowed to do anything they wish. And get away with it. American P.O.W.S.
for instance. In Vietnam.

Its pretty to think that if we just minded our own business, we could all live in peace and raise kids.
The reality sadly enough is that we are a world of hills. Each hill has its own king and people jockey around to take thier little piece.
As a possessor of a very large hill, America plays a game of self-interest. We want stability in the middle east becasue we are dependent on foreign oil, have vast economic interests in the region and its stategic proximity to other powerful nations like russia and China.
If we played the Canada/ Mexico game and became a disintrested nation....what would have happened toEurope and Nazi Germany, To communist Russia and europe , To South Koreans, To South Vietnamese...etc.
If terrorist A had information on a plot to blow up my mother, I would do alot more than waterboard him.....is it such a stretch to extend that to 9/11 like attacks or military objectives?
With regards to imprisonment of terrorists. Who wants them back?...what country is taking responsibility for them? Nobody. Even if we wanted to return them to our enemies....so they might attack again..which country wants to represent these guys.

Oh sure! you know the Spanish Inquisition really worked!
This is just as barbaric as sticking a red hot poker up someone's bum to try to get them to tell the truth. If anyone even came near me with one I would tell them anything they wanted to hear.

We should never stoop to the level of terrorists. It just gives them ammunition in the press and with other countries.
I don't care if it's Osama Bin Laden. He should get due process just like anyone else.
We can't simultaneously defend and abandon our principals.

i would like to think that we could live in a world where this would never even be considered. but if i thought i was in imitate danger of physical harm, i pretty sure i would be willing to protect myself using primal instincts. alas i am undecided on this issue. if you haven't please watch this video.
