If they're buying you shaving stuff for Christmas then they either already know that you're shaving or they expect you to begin shaving in the very near future. I remember being 17 and kind of embarrassed and awkward about everything but it's really nothing to be embarrassed about. There may be a little gentle ribbing but take it with a grain of salt. They're your parents and to them you'll always be their "little boy." They realize how much time has passed, how much you've really grown up and how little time they have left with you before you go off to college with every mini-milestone you hit. It sucks but it's a small price to pay to have your family. If they do give you stuff, just thank them and tell them you don't want to talk about it (preferably without blushing) and they should respect that as it's the holidays and who wants to argue?

P.S. If your sister is anything like mine, she's the last person you want to broach a subject that you're kind of self-conscious with.

Good luck.

Aw, don't be embarassed! Shaving is something everybody does, guy or girl. The situation is only awkward if you feel awkward! You'll feel much better if you can get over the idea that shaving is something to be embarassed about... because it isn't! Try not to worry so much about this! :) The fewer things you feel you have to hide and be embarassed about, the easier life is!

Maybe bring up shaving to one of your parents in a casual way, if you want them to know you do it before they get you a gift. You could say something like "so, dad, I've been shaving but I can't get it close enough around the nose, any tips?"

Anyways, don't be afraid to tell them you shave! You're 17, it's expected you'll be shaving by now.

You are ok, and shaving is some thing to be proud of, not embarrassed. Either you are a male or female as both sexes shave. It is a transition of adult hood and the last thing is to be embarrassed especially with your family. If you are a girl then you need to shave to keep up appearances. It is just normal and part of growing into womanhood. The same is true for a boy. Be proud and stand up tall. If they give you gifts for shaving it is their way of tell you, welcome to adulthood. Thank them for their concern. They love you.

Of course she expects you to ask when you need it, how else would she know you need it. She wouldn't know you need tampons or pds if you dont let her know you need more. She wont know you want new bras unless you tell her. She might not even realise a girl your age would want deodorent at all. Just communicate with her and start taking responsibility, if you need something either put it on her shopping list or just tell her you need it. She cannot be expected to be a mind reader. It is not too much for her to expect you to let her know if you need something, she shoulsnt be expected to just give you a constant endless supply.

A man can never get enough shaving stuff for Christmas.

Just wait till you have teenage boys who start stealing your razor blades... and they think I don't know! ... lol.

At least my darling wife has trained my daughter not to use my shaving kit on her legs.

don't be embarrassed by the fact that you are turning into an adult. It may not be a bad thing for others to know. They may have some good advice for you.

Just say thank you and you will save it for when you need it--whenever that might be. That should be non committal enough to stop the questions.

That is, as you state it, very stupid.

Why not be honest.....

If you want really to please your parents, guide them to a better "raiser or shaving" machine you actually have.

Quality in shaving is important, so why not give that pleasure to your parents....

Talk to your sister. She will understand, and she can probably talk to your parents for you.
