Come on man, you're not daft and know it's not that clear cut. Think you'll find that a lot of the failing kids don't take advantage of the education they're offered, and that might have something to do with parenting. I was at school in 50's & 60s and if you failed the 11+, schooling could be sh*t. Grammer schools had 4X more spent on them, do we bring that back, like some Tory counties want? I know plenty of kids doing well, I also know kids that aren't, the biggest difference I see is down to their family and background.

What about 'tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime' too?
Can't say i've noticed much difference.

To be fair to the Labour party i don't think they're any worse than any politcal party in that they are all rubbish.

I have absolutely no confidence in any of the big 3.

All have been involved in financial irregularities, all have 'spin' coming out of every pore, all have broken election promises, a vote for any of them is a pontless act.

Education is just another area where they have failed to deliver and are now trying to cover their backs before we hit the next election.

They had it right in the 40s and 50s. All these experiments that they keep doing with new methods are a waste of time.
Return to the old ways.

Welcome back!

It's good to learn, but has education improved our world?

Our education system is in a total mess, here in N.Z.
So are our young people.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it, should have been the education motto. We used to have such a great education system.

Governments tinker with everything.

Yeah - why couldn't they just leave well alone?

The powers in this country are always "tinkering" with the education system. No wonder it is in a mess!
