I am 40 weeks pregnant and i woke up tonight with incredible pains, I went to the bathroom because it made me feel like i needed to poop reallly bad but i could not, and at the same time i felt like i was having menstral cramps. About 5 minutes later the pain went completely away, I went back to bed, and about 15 - 20 minutes later the pain was back again for about another 5 minutes. This is still on going right now as i type this at 433am.. lol... could these be contractions? Could labor be in the works? pllease help

Sounds like it could well be.

The first stage of labour can take some time ( like approx 16 hours), once your contractions are 3-5 mins apart you should head off to the hospital.

But please call your doctor or midwife in a few hours to let them know what is happening.

All the best

Could be contractions. Keep timing them. When they last at least one minute long and are five minutes apart for an hour, go to the hospital. Good luck!

ok yes it sounds like your going into labour hunie, its time to call your midwife and talk to her, dont worrie about the time, your baby is coming and you need to know what to do, weather to go up there or not. if they are 15 mins apart then yes they are contractions. as soon as you said you needed to do a poo and you couldnt, i knew you were in labour, its happend to my mum every time with all 9 kids, and its happend to all my mates like that aswell. call your midwife and good luck with your baby and i hope he/she is a healthy baby.
