im a junior in college. i've always love football since the third grade. couldn't play it because of medical reasons. i've studied ever since the third grade. i have playbooks. ihave attempted to creat my own playbook. i even record football games(mostly professional just to study schemes) i reason bought a new computer and the first thing i did wuz create and laminate play calls sheets. it is funny because i never though i would become some obsess over the game of football. oh yeah, in high school i had the WONDERFUL chance to sit in the press box with the coaches all four years in high school. my duties was breaking down the offensive tendencies as the game goes along. i even wore the head sets and talked straight to the defensive coordinator, who played football for former defensive coordinator Joe Lee Dunn. i was in high school. i not sure how to get into coaching. i dont think im going to grad school. my financial situation is difficult im gonna have to work after college

Start by volunteering with pee-wee/little league. You'll never regret helping young kids learn the game. From there just stay active in meetings, show up to events(even if your not really involved in it).

The best way to do it is to volunteer for your JUCO football team. Most coaches will have you start at the bottom but that is the place you need to start in order to get good at coaching. I started with breaking down opponents game film for the coaches, then I helped out a position coach until I learned the defense, Then the following year I helped out on offense.
What you don't realize in regards to developing a playbook you have identify your team philosophy. What are you going to do run more or pass. Where do you plan on coaching high school, college or pop warner. These questions must be answered before you start to draft a playbook.

i admire your dedication.

anyway, i played 4 years of HS ball. All of 3 of my Coaches, SF/JV/Var all had backgrounds on playing football. Im not too sure on how you'll be able to break into coaching but it seems like you know the game pretty well. Maybe have a coach, like the Coach in your HS you worked with like you said, mentor you by working with him again - teach you more of the game... be some kind of an assistant... and then like the first guy said, coach p-wee/little league and work your way up? Im no expert, just my own personal advice/opinion.

all the best bro.

If your school has a team, just ask to meet with the coach and see if you can volunteer or what steps to take to get into coaching there or anywhere esle. I'm sure he has lots of contacts with Highschool coaches.
Your best bet is to join up with a Highschool and find out which schools could use some volunteers. Most likly the school with the worst current program. Then you could move up to more responsibilites and build up your resume.

Get a teaching degree and try to jump on a southern high school football team. Football is really big in the south, Texas, Cali, Louisianna and is recognized nationally. Then you have to work your way up. I am a assistant basketball coach for a high school. Did the same thing except I played in high school.
