I don't get booted from Pinochle...only Canasta. It lets me start a game, play a couple of hands, then boots me to the lobby and ends my game. I have lost 12 games because of this in a row. Please help!!!

Yahoo games use virtual memory to play.Running low or out of virtual memory causes game to freeze. Increasing your virtual memory helps with the freezing/getting booted problem. You can increase your memory by going to start button, settings, control panel, system, advance tab, performance, advance tab, virtual memory, change it, make it 1000 kb or higher,In both boxes, click apply then ok .If it’s not listed as Kb,” Some are not.” Just double the number listed. (Needed for games like Chess or any long games)

You probably have accidentally blocked cookies from somewhere that needs to be allowed to set them.

You could edit your preferences by hand, but this way using an xterm is much quicker:

First you will have to find a file called hostperm.1 which is usually in a directory under $HOME/.mozilla or $HOME/.firefox (depends which distro you are running and whether you used their version of firefox, the mozilla.com version of firefox or built it from source). This file determines (amongst other things) which hosts are allowed to set cookies. Once you find the directory with this file, cd to it and type the following commands:

$ killall firefox-bin
(this will stop all browser processes. Your browser must be stopped for the edit to take effect)
$ mv hostperm.1 hostperm.1.bak
(this renames your hostperm.1 file)
$ awk '$4 !~ /yahoo/{print}' hostperm.1.bak > hostperm.1
(this copies every line withOUT "yahoo" in the 4th field from hostperm1.bak to hostperm.1)

..... then restart firefox. It will ask you if you want to restore your last session, just say yes. Now you will have to re-allow cookies (preferably, for the session only) from the relevant sites.

For reference, the fields in this file are:
1: always "host"
2: "cookie" or "image"
3: 1 = allow, 2 = block, 8 = allow for session
4: host name
