I wouldn't put the word "oriental" in the same par as the "N" word but it actually is a very offensive term. Most Asians that grew up around other Asians know this, maybe in the suburbs it's different. Anyway just like to let people know.

What? Why? I don't get it. I can think of some seriously offensive names for Asians but I would have never thought Oriental was one of them. Thanks for the heads up.

Lol my fiance is Asian American and so is his family. The rest of his family is from Asia. They have no issue with the term. But European Americans get generalized and stereotyped a lot as well. For instance, I don't like being called white. Doesn't mean EVERYONE is going to dislike being called white. But I do. I'm not white. I'm European American. And white is actually a disrespectful term in my opinion. But I will not say that whites will find it offensive. I'm sure 98% of them won't. But some of us do. So I suppose it's the same as an Asian American getting offended by "oriental" or an African American getting offended by some one dropping the N bomb.

WHY? The Orient is a PLACE, as is Asia. I'm tired of everyone getting offended over everything.

Oriental is a description of objects, not people. I would be offended too.

So what. They have names for us. Someone's always offended by something because they are weak and whiny.
