Use two gathering professions and the auction house to earn your first few gold, but switch to a more profitable item base once you have something to work with.

You can sell generic vendor items like recipes, cookbooks, etc. (and limited supply items of all types) for big money through the auction house JUST because tons of players are too lazy to go fly/run all the way to where you have to go to get it for cheap.

When I first started auctioning I bought the "Expert Cookbook"s for 90 silver, then auctioned them for 3 gold each. I also sold the SW recipes that only cost a few silver each in the Auction House for 1 gold each. I usually sold 3-4 per day, too. That adds up!

As I leveled and became more familiar with items being bought & sold I moved on to bigger and more expensive things...and when I see something in surplus (and therefore cheap) I stock up & resell when there's a deficit.

Recently I purchased 2 full 18 slot bags and then some of Heavy Knothide Leather at 18 gold per stack. A month later they were selling for 75 gold per stack, and I made a killing.

I've banked well over 9000 gold for myself in a few months. (That's what's left over AFTER I bought myself every pretty, shiny purple and blue thing I wanted AND funded power-leveling all of my toons' professions, mind you!)

If you pay attention, spend some of your time working the Auction House, and DON'T over-spend on items until you can afford to, you will soon have more money than you know what to do with.

Happy Hunting!

:)

Don't take any crafting professions - stick to mining and skinning or herbalism and skinning. Having two gathering professions allows you to sell off what you gather and make money like crazy. Also, sell all your green BoE drops in the auction house.

I had a thousand gold by the time I was level 25, and I'm only a casual player, and got it all completely legally.

I picked mining and skinning as my professions. I collect stacks of materials, and then sell them on auction in full and partial stacks (some people only need a couple mitril bars or rough leather pieces for an item). I generally make 15-30 gold a day doing this.

If you're on a server with a low level toon that has no cash -- do mining and skinning. Sell it all and build up some cash, then get the professions you'd like.

If you're a 70 -- do your dailies. :)

Do what everyone else suggests, use gathering professions and sell it on the Auction House.

I also recomend the AddOn "Auctioneer" (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/addons/) it scans the Auction House and will automaticly set prices in items you put up, undercutting the current lowest bid.
