1993 through 2000 Clinton and peace-

we had more scuffles world wide during those years I cannot count them, for Serbia, Bosnia, USS COLE, Yemen, It goes on and on. Can you believe this picked as best answer when all the dates are so generic they are wrong!! I do not mind opinions... I do mind getting dates correct if you are going to use them!

Any one else agree? I think it was a descent answer but he should have taken the time to get his dates correct, not people will think when they see it in the future as the correct dates. sadenning. So hard to keep history accurate would you not agree?

I have nothing personal against the winner only that his DATES are very inaccurate and to me that is a big pet peeve!

She was trying to pick out the major events of each decade, not give the exact dates of the events. She left out a decade, though: 1900. (Actually the decades start on the 1s, 1901, 1911, 1921, etc., but almost nobody realizes it.)

I agree with you about the '80s; prosperity, ending the Cold War, relative peace.

And about Clinton, little peace, decimation of the armed forces, a series of jokes appointed to lead the armed forces and State Department and a very bad joke at Attorney General.

You've got some of your facts wrong. Please note the following:
WWI started in 1914. U.S. enter WWI in 1917.
Prohibition was enacted in 1919
Depression started in 1929 and didn't end until 1941 when the U.S. enter WWII.
US entered WWII in 1941 directly after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Korean War 1950 - 1953
Cold War 1950 - 1991
Vietnam 1950 - 1975 However, it was France's Indochina War until 1964 and the Gulf of Tonkin resolution. The US became involved from 1964 until 1975. Prior to 1964 the US was there in an advisory capacity only. The cease fire was agreed to in 1973 and the last military and civilians were evacuated in March of 1975.
The high interest rates and high national debt was created by the Nixon administration and Carter inherited them in 1977 when he was inaugurated. The gas lines were in 1974 while Gerry Ford was president and the prices weren't high there just was a limited amount of gas available.
Reagan was inaugurated and the hostages were rescued from Iran on the same day - January 20, 1981.
Bush Sr. attacked Iraq and started Desert Storm in Jan. 16, 1991.
The Berlin Wall came down in 1990 while Bush Sr. was president.

What can I say. One of my sons history text books showed a aircraft carrier and said in the caption how use full the Panama canal was for the use of war ships like these during WWII.
I had a fit with the school and the history teacher insisted the book was 100 percent accurate.

Actually I think the poster was trying to say that these events happened during this decade rather than the exact year. Example: The Great War was fought during the decade between 1910 and 1920.

But I know what you mean. People need to learn to express themselves clearly and use reference materials properly.

You need to limit your questions to the space provided here. I still don't understand your question.
