Count me in on this one Debi, it has to be thick farmhouse white bread, dripping with butter, the brand of butter we had at home when I was a child, no other is the same, this is the only time I eat white bread as I know it isn't healthy with all the bleached flour etc, but I have to confess, I use real butter on jacket potatoes too, I'm very naughty....lol

Love dark toast when using seeded rye bread. Like homemade breads the best.
Love Artisan bread with rough crumb and crispy crust.
I want REAL butter - don't use that artificial stuff.
In the evening, before bed, sometimes I will have a cup of dark tea and a coupla pieces of toast with butter and cinnamon sugar.....MMMM!

Yes i am. Here is a really good recipe called pop eye.
You put butter all of both sides of toast. Put the oven on medium, and put a pan you would put eggs on. Once you have the Butter all over take a cup and push it on the bread so you have a circle on the inside. Take out that circle and put it on the pan. Then out the 'crusty' part of the bread on too, and get out 1 eg. Open the egg and pour it into the hole in the crust. What untill it cooks on one side, and flip it over, and you have delicious pop eye!

I make my own bread, and I judge it's worth on its toast-ability.
Toasted: it's butter.
Untoasted, it's an olive oil dip.
Sourdough is a fine art: It requires butter and I don't make it myself. The best comes from local mom-and-pops in Frisco.
I love rye with caraway seeds: it begs to be toasted, and yes, it requires butter.
My French bread requires cheese, country-side picnics and California Wines. You can't toast it because it shouldn't be sliced: it needs to be torn apart in the heat of passion.
My Italian bread requires garlic, and butter or quality olive oil, and a descent California Zin, with spaghetti or other hearty Italian meal.
I, too, am picky about my bread.
If you're in my area, let's start a restaurant!

I've given up on the spreads where toast is concerned and i've gone back to butter.
It does rip the bread up though in this cold weather!

Yes - my favorite toast is made with Pepperidge Farm thin sliced white...and it has to be a deep golden color, and it has to be spread all the way across the slice to the edges! NO jelly...[I can't stand pre-buttered toast in restaurants...they never butter the whole slice!]

I was diagnosed with MS last year and have completely revamped my diet. (on side note, it has worked great, feel better than I have in 20 years!) Part of that is not eating bread with preservatives and avoiding gluten.
Therefore........my toast is a whole grain dark rye bread that I get from Trader Joe's! YUM!

My very favourite is pumpernickel rye, which is a black bread with whole grains in it giving it a nutty flavour, toasted (you can't tell by sight, but it crunches) with a light skim of butter or margarine...I don't really care, and a large spoonful of strawberry preserves...like jam only twice the fruit--tastes like fresh strawberries!!

I will toast whatever is here but prefer whole wheat with low fat peanut butter as the only spread.
