people keep saying they went after vick because he is a high profile person....um duh? you always go after the druglord rather then his employees, you need to stop crimes from the top not the bottom. and getting a guy like vick definetly puts the thought into the other dog fighter promoters minds that they can be next. whats a bigger message? the feds arresting bobby backala or the feds arresting TONY SOPRANO?

now on to the real issue

these are the only reasons i can come up with why its different

1) killing a dog is a federal offense, Deer hunting isnt

2) here in the United States of America, we are a dog loving nation.....its pretty much like someone killing cows in india.

3) the way it was done, shooting a deer is a bit different then hanging/electrocuting/head banging against concrete

4) i dont kill or hunt animals but im a firm believer that if you are going to kill an animal it should be use for A) survival B) a purpose such as eating....99% of hunters eat the deer....i dont think vick was planning to eat the dogs.

5) by the way there is a term called "rolling" in the dog fighting world and that is basically using dogs that either dont want to fight, or are undersized for the trainers prize dog to "spar" with...and when i say "spar" i ment to tear the poor helpless dog apart.

i believe thats why people are outraged....

one last note RANDOM said and i quote "Whats the big deal about fighting dogs, we have boxing and UFC so what is the difference. you can die and you get pretty messed up"

um bro....here is the difference

-boxing and UFC fights are REGULATED! there is a reason they stop the fight.

-not to mention these people are fighting on their own accord.

-they have gloves on to prevent deaths

while dog fights

-the dogs dont have a choice they are bred to fight.

-the fight doesnt end until one DIES

you are blind as much as the people who dog fight.

you and anyone who thinks deer hunting is bad are complete idiots. to the person who said fishing should be illegal. are you a fncking moron? you guys cannot be serious. i guess if you dont live in the country, and your parents dont have blue collar jobs you wouldnt understand it at all. my family has hunted deer, squirrel, rabbit and other animals and fished for generations for the sole purpose of a meal. you do know that hamburgers come from cows right? it doesn't just show up at the grocery store wrapped in plastic. if you think deer hunting is bad stop eating beef, chicken, deer, and pork. also, deer hunting can be very painless if done right. you should come by sometime when my family butchers chickens, cows, or hogs. you woulnd't even know what to do if you saw what was going on, but maybe you could start a petition to send us all to jail. o yea, be careful when you eat your lettuce too, they are living also...

this is foolish. dog fighting is controled cruelty. all that dog fighting involves is cruel. the training methods are cruel. the methodology that goes in to a dogs training is cruel. trainers use "bait dogs" in training a fighter. it's just a horrible, useless thing, dog fighting is. and nobody eats the dead dogs.

deer hunting on the other hand is a sport that may or may not be cruel. a clean shot through a bucks neck and he is down and dead. never knew what hit him. you field dress him, take him to the slaughter house, and you are in for some good eating. it's absurd to compare the two. the object in hunting is to kill for sport. the object in dog fighting is to watch obscene cruelty for pleasure.

IF you said brett favre is involved in bull fighting, your argument would have some validity. i could go on about the benefits of hunting for controling animal populations and other stuff but i'm not....i'm done here.

and i wish vick nothing but the best and hope he does well once his time is done. i don't hate vick. he's taking his punishment like a man and i respect that! he's accepting responsibility, he's showing true remorse, and i hope he gets another chance in the nfl. BUT i will never EVER condon dog fighting!

In addition to some of the answers I agree with here (thumbs-up to you guys),most especially the distinction between legal and illegal, there is also the fact that that mankind has domesticated dogs. When you domesticate an animal there is an ethical responsibility, then, to protect it from cruelty and abuse from mankind.

Also, I don't especially like the idea of deer hunting, but a skilled hunter will kill a deer with one fast shot. Dog-fighting subjects dogs to mental and physical torture which can last hours or -- in the event a losing dog has fatal injuries but does not die right away -- days.

Vick is a sick man who not only killed dogs after losing a match but tortured them by electrocution. He gave dogs hell for losing a match. Deer hunting is to control the population if deer hunting became illegal a deer would probably be humping your left leg as we speak.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://tr.im/BNwiW

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Legal and Cultural. There are many countries in the world which advocate eating dog, which is much preferred over deer. Somebody once told me a story about the Korean War. The U.S. military supposedly sent over 50 German Shepherd dogs to South Korea to help the South Koreans with various security issues. A short time later, the U.S received a letter from the South Korean government. "Thanks for the German Shepherd dogs, they were delicious."

That's so NOT a sport!! Raising animals to be fighters is completely immoral........that's why cockfighting (fighting with roosters) and every other kind of animal fighting is banned!! Those dogs don't have any control once they've been trained for something like that!! Imagine if one of them got a hold of a little kid....or even you!!!

Are you for real? I don't think Vick was eating the dogs he tortured and killed. Deer are a source of food for many people. They aren't put in a ring for fighting. This question is so absurd, its unbelievableyou're even comparing the two.
