I mean like the classics and others.. such as Lady and the Tramp, Dumbo, Tarzan, ect ect.

They only seem to make 3D movies, which all look the same =/

Disney eliminated the majority of their traditional 2D animation studios. Firing a bunch of talent. Now they are transitioning over to 3D, with their first 3D animation "Meet the Robinsons".

This is because 2D animations take a lot longer to produce, around 4-8 years while 3D takes about 2-4 years to produce. 3D is supposedly cheaper and easier to do as well. The hunger for 3D is much greater since it has become the new standard. Some of the last distributed American paper drawn movies in my memory were 20th Century Fox's Anastasia (alright) and Titan A.E. (horrible). I don't really count stuff like the Simpsons or Family Guy because they are outsourced to Korean animation studios.

The classics still warm my heart. "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" is a great horror movie (really! watch it!).

Japan still generates great hand drawn movies. Such studios like Studio Ghibli churn out outstanding Disney quality films - ironically distributed by Disney. Some must see Studio Ghibli films are "Grave of the Fireflies", "Spirited Away", and "Princess Mononoke."

2D animation isn't dead. Just Disney's outlook.

There are several reasons for this. One being that Walt Disney is no longer around. Another being that this is the new way to do things. Yeah it sucks, but there really isn't anything we can do about it. Just remember, once they used to be all black and white! Then they moved to colors. Now it's 3D.

Cheaper, easier and faster to do than traditional 2D. Plus the whole industry is being forced to catch up with the new technology

The fashion changed, people like new style new technology new generation. The old things are being boring. Especially for the commercial art, it trends to new ideas. Be creative.

All those 2d movies looked the same as well. It was the style and now 3d is the style.

There is no stopping progress.
