Avs came within two goals of that (one more goal each from Wolski and Stastny) on Sunday, so...has any NHL team ever scored 3 hat tricks in one game?

I believe that a few players have registered dual hat tricks in a game. The aforementioned Darryl Sittler and the Blues Red Berenson come to mind. Then there are the games where any combination of two players got hat tricks - either for their team or one player on each team.

In the modern era, I don't think a "triple" has been achieved. However, it may be likely that it occurred in the pre-NHL days or when hockey was played with seven players on the ice for each team.

Good question.

Wow, I don't think so. Does a double hat trick count as two? Sittler scored 6 in an 11 - 4 win over the Bruins.
Not many games top 8 goals for one side and 3 hattricks means at least 9 need be scored.
Might have happened back when seven guys played the whole game. Maybe the Silver Seven did it but that predates the NHL. Most goals one team in an NHL game was 16.
I think the definitive answer on this has to come from the guru of stats Cyrenaica.

In a game many moons ago won by Edmonton 12-9 at Chicago Stadium
Jari Kurri and Mark Messier had hat tricks for Edmonton
Al Secord and Steve larmer had hat tricks for Chicago (Secord had 4 actually)

So, 4 hat tricks in one game

To the poster above, on November 8, 1992
Los Angeles beat San Jose 11-4, but only Kurri and Robitaille had hat-tricks in that game

There were 4 games that year where a team had two players with hat tricks

I remember Jagr and Lemieux scoring a hat trick during a playoff game against the Rangers.

That's so funny. I actually thought about this last night after seeing two Flyers score hat tricks in the game. I'm sure you could find that info on nhl.com or somewhere.

Yes, the L. A. Kings did it against the San Jose Sharks during the Shark's second season, I think in '93. I think Gretzky, Robitialle, and Sandstrom had the hat tricks, but I'm not sure.
