The world can never run out of water. A drought is a local event as is a flood. Clean water is used, dirty water returned, naturally filtered or evaporated just to rain down again. 3/4 of the world is covered in water. All we do is borrow it for a while. You can never really own it.

Merry Christmas!

the water supply on earth will never run out, it will always be here because the earth recycles it and it rains back down. the only wastage to water is pollution... making it un-drinkable and giving us things like acid-rain.

There is plenty to an extreme excess of water so running out is not a question. A lot of water is not drinkable in its current state, however, and there are a lot of places where the local supply of useful water is being depleted by overextraction and by being rendered unuseable without treatment by contamination.

Water doesn't just evaporate into nothingness, it always returns one way or the other. We probably have the same amount give or take a few gallons.
