Hey Jim,
I consider myself an ex smoker and its only been a month since I lit up. From what I am feeling, it seems that the cravings will never go away completely. Think of smoking as your "ex-girlfriend." At first, you will crave her and miss her and want to call her 24/7. After more time goes by and you have no contact, things get easier. Further down the road, you're able to move on completely then WHAM a song comes on the radio that puts you right back to that place when you remember how much you loved her. Thats how it is when you see someone smoking or have some other triggering event reminding you of the joys of smoking.
The only way to conquer this (as I'm sure you've realized with ex's in the past) is to soldier on through these temptations while staying strong and remembering the "bad times" that made you quit in the first place.
Overall, what I'm saying is that, like an ex, you may still think of cigarettes fondly from time to time, but that does not mean you (or I) should go back to them. These "cravings" will come far less often, but never go away completely. But we're so strong to have made it this far, it can only get easier from here.
Hope this helps. I know its kinda corny, but its helping me. :)

the strength of the cravings definitely wane as time goes by, but you need the right mindset to continue to stay off the stuff..
why did you quit? sore throat every day? no money in your pockets? you constantly smell like a$ s?]
get a sticky note, write that reason down, and put it someplace you see it every day
i found that after the 1st 3 days (smoked pack and a half a day for over 2yrs) things get a lot easier... but there is a long stretch of time where i can subconsciously point out every instance in which someone is smoking a cigarette, either walking on the street or in the background of a movie..
if you have overcome the 1st three days in which the urges are really terrible, than no craving is as bad..
stand on the strength of the work you've already done.. because 1 single solitary puff on a cigarette will completely fck all that up... you're cravings will go through the friggin roof after that...
quitting smoking is one of the proudest moments of my life, which is why i'm going on at such length here.. 3 months dude, you are home free.. just keep on truckin

I;ve never smoked, but I can imagine the struggle to give up something addictive. I guess you problem is thinking about it, which make you crave a smoke. I'd look for those local help hotlines for advice. You can usually find information in a local center for teenagers, because help is usually offered to teens to prevent them from smoking.
