The Skeleton Key (2005; Kate Hudson, Gena Rowlands)
The Grudge (2004; Sarah Michelle Gellar, Bill Pullman)
Stigmata (1999; Patricia Arquette, Gabriel Byrne)
An American Haunting (2005; Donald Sutherland, Sissy Spacek)
The Shining (1980; Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall)
1408 (2007; John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson)
Vacancy (2007; Luke Wilson, Kate Beckinsale)
Now turn off the lights, bring lots of blankets, and get ready to scream!!! Have fun! :)

Any of the Halloween and Friday the 13th series. Throw in the revivals like Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Omen.

I usually don't like Horror movies, but when I watched The Shining (1980), I love the movie. It's not a typical gory movie and a pretty confusing one, but it's awesome if you got it.

personally, i'd prefer comedies, but if you insist on horror, well, there's always:
1) good old freddy kreuger in nightmare on elm street.
2) the exorcist
3) house of wax (not really scary, but just so you can have a laugh at paris hilton's acting, and when she gets killed off)
4) the amytiville horror
5) the ring
6) the grudge
take your pick!

Man...I think that Evil Dead (the first one) is the scariest movie I have ever seen. I own it and I have seen it once since buying it 2 years ago.
