MOST Americans are well aware of this. Bush and Cheney live in a world of make believe and are too busy waging war and reaping war profits to give it much credence.

I agree that it is a big deal that Americans don't fully understand what is contributing to global warming. This question is a perfect example of misinformation. I would just like to point out that people driving "their Humvees and Giant Sized Trucks" is not the main cause of global warming. A huge issue is that people believe this to be the case and think that if everyone drove hybrids or used biofuels that the problem would be solved. This would cut greenhouse gas emissions some and is something that should be worked towards, but is not the main source.
The biggest source of NON-NATURAL greenhouse gas emissions is not from transportation. The generation of electricity is the biggest problem(this is mostly from the burning of COAL). Industrial processes is 2nd. This is what we need to work towards fixing. We need to stop burning coal for electricity. This is the single biggest thing we can stop.
In my opinion this should be very easy and cheap to do (disregarding the large, obvious politcal barriers). I think that nuclear energy is the key in the short term. Many people say that we need renewable wind and solar and not nuclear. While this is a good long term goal, it is not a realistic on the worldwide scale in the short term.

Americans produce a small percent of a small percent of a small percent of all greenhouse gasses. The largest greenhouse gas contributor is water vapor- contributing to 95% of all global warming. CO2 has a contribution of 3-5%, humans contribute 3-5% OF that 3-5%.... Americans produce an even SMALLER amount of that 3-5% of that 3-5%..... and the emission cutdowns would simply CUT THEM DOWN- essentially so that even if CO2 was an issue it would not be enough.
Every industrialized nation being apart of something is not a logical reason to support a cause, see "Argument From Popularity"
Businesses should be pushing their own innovation- this should not be forced by government regulation.
You go off on a bit of an ad hom tangent in the middle there.

Since when did America Care?
We invade other Countries that we deem a Potential Threat just because their Ideologies are different than ours. And they must adapt and learn to appreciate Democracy.
Only in this Country where we have too much Food and have the Number One Obesity rate in the entire Planet. Oh yes, we have an option to "SUPERSIZE" when we go to a Fast Food Restaurant. While you would be lucky in finding a Vegetarian and Lactose Intolerant Citizens in Third World Countries. Find me a Vegetarian in Somalia, I dare you.
Half the American population cannot find European Countries in a Map. Which leads me to believe that these people think that the whole world revolves around the United States.
America is NOT Perfect just like anyother country, but I live in the best Country in the world. And there's nothing you guys can do about it. But buy our Weapons, our fast Food Chains, Use our American Dollars, Call for us for help and deal with our ignorance.

Honestly, I don't think there is one person in America who 'doesn't care' about global warming. Unfortunately, just caring, is not very effective. Also, there are many Americans,(especially those who have been power and money driven enough to actually obtain power and money) who care more about money,(and power) than the enviroment 20 years from now. It's really easy to 'not care' about things like 'long term effects' and 'longevity' and 'every little bit helps'. Often times, the thought of 1 person making a difference, is inconcievable.
The real trip is China! Whoa! The Chinese government flat out 'don't give a $@#%' about anything other than $$$$$ right now. I just heard that there are approx 2 1/2 billion people in China who don't have access to clean drinking water. They were estimated to match U.S. consumption/emissions by 2012...They've long since passed us and continue to climb, without any thought to what there doing to the enviroment.... .Im scared.

This type of thing is normal. At the lower levels, scientists and engineers make decisions, but the people that are actually in charge at the top decide everything based on money. As long as heavy industry keeps donating to congressional campaigns, nothing will be done about this.

Don't be so harsh on America...I know we have a crap load of stuff that needs fixed, but there are other countries that are worse than us. Take China for example...I wonder how much pollutants it really does put in the air...
Chirstian Bale was filming the batman sequel in China and had to cancel a water stunt because they found TB and other very dangerous things in the river they were filming at!!!

You have no idea what you are talking about. We have more pollution control than most countries on this planet. You should be asking this question about China, India, Mexico, and all of the other countries that manufcature a ton of product with no regulations what so ever. Get off your high horse already. I think your jealous because your from a country that really doesnt matter.

It has nothing to do with war or arms dealing, you seem clueless. It has to do with ties to energy companies, such as Chevron, Exxon-Mobil and Halliburton. These corporations generate billions on America's reliance on fossil fuels, and have key people in key places. Lobbyists.
Also, some of the alternative energy resources such as corn ethanol and palm oil may prove to be even more environmentally disastrous compared to continued use of fossil fuels, so it may not be all a bad thing.

Global warming is a natural process the earth goes through.
The earth has gone through 7 ice ages before man was ever on this planet.

Actually there is evidence to support that the earth goes through cycles naturally of being warmer and then colder and then warmer. Anyway, I'm too tired to look it up, but if you do some research I'm sure you can find it. Everyone has a different opinion and no one ever seems to have any facts. All they do is avoid the subject and "yada, yada, yada", to quote my favorite tv show.
