It seems like everyday you are hearing about a toy, some kind of pet food, or food, or other item that is making people or animals ill or worse. Isn't the government suppose to be protecting it's citizens? Even USA owned corporations are guilty because they are importing foreign items to use in the manufacture of their items.
Would you shop at a store that only sold items made here in the USA?

I agree that this situation is out of control. People have died as the result of our negligent government and big business. It's bad enough that our government remains passive on nearly every issue important to Americans, but to allow people to die just to pad there own wallets is simply disgusting. There is a lot of blood on the hands of our congressional leadership and this administration.
I have been trying my best to buy only Amercian made products, but it is very difficult to do sometimes. I needed to find an HDMI cable for my T.V. today, and after searching all over Jacksonville, I could not find a single one made in the U.S.A. But even though I had to buy an imported product, I made sure that it was not from China. "Made in Japan" it says on the packaging, and I guess that will have to do.

I suggest you write your Congressional representaive and complain about it. I remember reading an article in New York Times a couple of years ago where America is selling it's ports to other countries. Just think. All the taxes on that imported merchandise coming into this country is going into some foreign treasury.And what comes into our country is controlled by the government who controls that port.

No- people like you should control such things. If you're seriously concerned about China- don't shop at Walmart.
Don't get the government involved, they only make things worse and NEVER help things.

I was aware in the 80's that as corporations gained more political influence that they would soon be determining the politics.
There is nothing wrong with capitalism. What is wrong is when corporatism replaces capitalism.

American's are greedy and stupid, thats why they no longer care where their products come from, and why would anyone buy anythng made in America. Everyone knows their products are technologically inferior and don't last.. by the way where is your mobile phone made.. certainly not in America.

Considering the funding and personnel or these regulators done by Bush and Cheney, we are lucky it is not worse. But what the hell, they were able to give themselves and about 2 % of the population massive tax cuts.
