Don't you think it's bull***t that the government can't get more control over what gets imported into USA

It seems like everyday you are hearing about a toy, some kind of pet food, or food, or other item that is making people or animals ill or worse. Isn't the government suppose to be protecting it's citizens? Even USA owned corporations are guilty because they are importing foreign items to use in the manufacture of their items.

Would you shop at a store that only sold items made here in the USA?

Yes they should be protecting the citizens, maybe actually punishing the companies that import the products.

Yes I would shop at a store that only sold items made here (in the USA) but not for safety, just to keep it local (local products, local jobs, local prosperity). I saw a report a while back that pointed out that even products made here are often made from supplies, like paint and components, that are imported.

I suggest you write your Congressional representaive and complain about it. I remember reading an article in New York Times a couple of years ago where America is selling it's ports to other countries. Just think. All the taxes on that imported merchandise coming into this country is going into some foreign treasury.And what comes into our country is controlled by the government who controls that port.
