Wow ... my friend "star athlete" has some things to learn about world domination.
And yes ... yes I do. Wal Mart is bad news my friend and getting worse. There is a great book out ... everyone should read it ... it exposes WM for what it really is and how bad it really is. It's called: "How Wal Mart Is Destroying America" 3RD Edition; by Bill Quinn.
Being a teacher I really hate to shop there because of how badly they pay and treat their NON UNION employees with NO health care. My mom used to work there and I can tell you first hand it is not the Disneyland it claims to be. I could go on, but I won't. I do suggest you read this book though ... it's good info to arm yourself with.
My gf just told me today that they are getting rid of the sewing and material dept. because it doesn't make enough MONEY. Go figure. Oh well ... if it's allowed to continue pretty soon it will be our only shopping choice and then the prices won't be quite so "rolled back'! Pffft!
Target Rocks! lol
Peace ....

Suckless, if you are a woman trying to go beyond the cash register into Management. I work at Wal-Mart. Pay is decent for me since I'm not educated beyond high school. But I have been here since the place opened 8 years ago, never missed a day, always on time, never a problem with the register receipts. I do smile and give great Customer Service, I really love my job, but want to get ahead. The management has given me several raises, most of them when I requested one. They constantly award me with Employee of the...., but no promotion. I get the story, "but you're so good at the front end..." They have offered me Head Cashier, I did that for 50 cents more per hour, and was not worth the headaches for the pay, so I stepped down. I train most of the cahsiers and even the current Head Cashier. Then I found out the some of the MALE department employees had been offered a few of the Department Management postions that I was passed over - they having even less (only one had an AA degree) - education and experience there and in Retail in general than I do. In my town, I will not be able to make the money I do now if I began a new job, so quitting is not an option, unless I move. So, they are, IMHO, suckless to work for.

No. They will never have world domination cuz of people like me who don't like their store.
I really don't like going into a Wal-mart. Has nothing to do with globalization, the wages they pay or the small businesses that get hurt. I just walk into one of their stores and can't wait to leave. BAD shopping experience.

It could be. They are the largest retailer in the world. They have no mercy at all when it comes to removing the competition. I worked for them a year and most of the managers are completely heartless. Some are OK, but they have been trained to be like robots, with no feeling at all for their fellow man. It's kind of ironic, because they are only as good as their people make them.

wal-mart is just like any other corporate fat cat except that wal-mart has actually done somthing for the public, which is to bring everyday low prices. they have already put thousands of businesses out of business but sam walton started a store tha evolved into a huge corporation. if he was prosperous, so what? its not a crime. i dont see people complaining that Apple is taking over the world with the iPod craze

Peace to you, too! ((((((((GEM)))))))).
I highly doubt world domination, but most assuredly they're attempting US domination! That's okedoke! I started liking them a couple years ago.
