would it be safe to use a scotch tape or something to fix it...or will i just have to buy a new one? does anyone know?

If the little clip that holds the cable in is missing, YEAH buy a new cable, come on man, shortish cat5 patch leads are

If you mean the little latch/clip broke....yeah you can tape it till you replace it...just make sure it is nice and tight

you might just wanna tri redoing it with a rubbr band and it it still isnt then buy a new 1. (and if you do buy a new one wear gloves before touching the rubber band
