Where I live you can't turn on the TV without being blasted with ads for both of these. If that is not true in your area, call the state bar association and they will tell you the names of the experts in our area.

I agree to an extent about watching out for lawyers that advertise but there are some awesome lawyers out there that advertise. Best thing I think to do is look in the yellow pages for the lawyer that specializes in what you are looking for and then ask around. There is no need in calling every lawyer in the book to find out he doesn't even cover that area of law. Good luck.

Have you applied for social security yet?
NO? Then you don't need a social security lawyer until you apply and are rejected.

I would not use someone who has to find clients by advertising, the best attorneys one finds by reputation and word of mouth. Try martindale.com, the attorney's directory, specialities are sometimes listed there. (martindale's A/B/C rating system is a little scewed though, my opinion...all you do is get your friends to vote for you...)
