my opinion, yes the baby feels it! the fetus..as it is referred to has a heart beat that can be detected well before 13 weeks!!!
but it is a personal choice, no one knows for sure if there is pain to the baby or not. and having an abortion is your right. Although I do not agree with having one unless you were raped or have a medical condition, it is still your right and your choice, every person has to decide that for themselves.

I remember watching a video when I was in school where they did this test on a fetus that had been removed from the womb...I don't remember how far along the fetus was, but they were probing it with this electrical thing and the baby was jumping away from it. It was really disturbing. I would imagine it was a little more than thirteen weeks, since it was a fully formed fetus, only itty bitty...

When you have a surgical abortion at this stage all they do is vacuum the fetus out. It dies as a result of having no life support.

But most states don't allow an abortion after thirteen weeks anyway. That's usually the cutoff point. I would look into it further. Good luck to you.

over 3 months- yes I can say that the baby feels pain- everything is there that will be but smaller. PLEASE do not abort your child. I can understand if you cannot raise your child- but consider placing for adoption. Your baby's heart has been beating since 3 weeks after conception- that was most likely before you even knew you were pregnant. Just because it is called a fetus- which by the way means "offspring"- does not mean it has no life. I am adopted and am very grateful that my birth mom loved me enough to carry me to term and place me for adoption- that was a sacrificial love- she was self-less and did not sacrifice me on the altar of convenience. Also I have 2 adopted kids who could have been victims of abortion, if their birth moms had listened to family and friends. There are dangers to you as well- it is not the easy way out. Email if you can, and we can chat some more.

It is now classed as a baby to me because it has a heart beat and it moves around like a baby, at my 10 week scan my baby boy was moving and kicking. And yes they can feel pain.

If you were to reach in there and pinch bub they would flinch because they can feel it. As for wether an abortion actually hurts the baby im not sure because the baby's life line is the placenta and once that is detached (which is how they abort the baby) im not sure if the baby's heart beat would slowly decrease until there is no heart beat or weather the baby actually suffers. But i would ask your doctor. I think abortion is mean!!

no one can answer that question definitively. For every one person that says it doesn't there is one person tht says it does. Whether it is a baby or a fetus, is more of a moral question, but medically, it is considered a fetus. Don't ask those questions in pregnancy. I'll stay off my soapbox, if anyone wants my opinion they can read my past questions and answers. I'm too tired to argue abortion tonite.

I have recently done an essay on this topic for one of my courses: My research proved that most abortions occur after 8 weeks and the baby (or embryo, as pro-choicers say) has had a viable heartbeat since 4 weeks after conception.
Also, I read accounts where abortion nurses testify to seeing the embryo/fetus move away from the abortion instruments on the ultrasound screen, trying to avoid being killed or avoid the pain... or maybe even, like small animals do... trying to save its life.
I've read lots and lots of things and seen pictures, not to mention abortion videos (very hard to watch, by the way)
I won't be too graphic here, but the baby is pulled apart limb by limb and there are visible hands and arms and legs... a head... even a ribcage...
Maybe you should visit babycenter.com and type in "13 weeks pregnant" to see what your baby looks like and what its doing (how its developing) at this stage...
Or visit www.godandscience.com to read firsthand accounts of doctors who have performed abortions...
Personally I am pro-life but I know not everyone is. I just hope I have let you in on some facts I've recently discovered and that it helps you in the future.

Yes, it is still a fetus. Most medical researchers believe that the ability to feel pain develops in the third trimester, though some believe that it is not developed until after birth.

No one can say for sure if a fetus feels pain at this point in the pregnancy, but they do know that it's heart rate increases, which some experts claim is a sign that it feels pain and distress.

It is medically termed a fetus until birth....no one knows if the fetus feels pain at that point, but at later dates it can definately feel and respond to movements and trauma........just a friendly reminder that there are plenty of waiting mommies out there who would love to give your child a wonderful home!!

.I though the cut off date was 12 weeks? The baby does feel pain. It's called the silent scream. I am pro-choice. I can't tell you what to do, I just know what I would do and wouldn't do. Think about ALL your options before you really choose. You may or may not regret this later.
I have a couple of cousins who have had two each. One in their teens and the other in their early 20's. We are in our 30's now and they both regret it. I have 3 kids. I hope the best for you and remember what ever you choose... you are not alone. There are people who can help you.
