Wow there's a whole lotta blame going around on YA, but not a lotta of answers. This adds to the myth of the "Two Americas" In reality with the exception of certain issues that are too close to call, statistically Americans tend to be united on just about everything.
The news media does want you to believe we are polarized for two reasons...
1. It makes politics appear like a football game, with just two sides playing for power. (Ratings!)
2. It makes it easier for the reporter to cover the story without getting bogged down in doing research. (Easier!)

No. The news media needs people to think that because the news media's chosen party - the Democrats - aren't in power. The message is that all is chaos, such as their ridiculous claim that the economy is bad, or their denial that the surge is working in Iraq.
They create bogymen (Karl Rove) where there are none; they create scandals ("Swift boaters" and "Bush outed Valerie Plame") where there are none, and then claim that everyone is all upset about the non-issues, and that the country is being torn apart.
The radical Left, which has taken over the mainstream news media and the Democrat party, is attempting to create the illusion of polarization in order to get people to vote for Democrats at the next election.

Libertarian, green social gathering, autonomous, etc events have little, to no say. That pass away the Democratic and Republican events in the US. With the two having such opposing ideals and ideologies (a minimum of various the middle ideals), that is challenging for every physique to declare genuine independence from the two social gathering. Socialist social gathering contributors and wrongly grouped with the democratic events, mutually as autonomous thinkers who embody even one million conservative appropriate are grouped with conservatives. that is a tragic device, yet human beings percent to maintain it this way as a results of fact it "works".

Remember the vast majority are not here or online talking politics - only those with serious interest which tend to be extreme in their views. The silent majority does not speak out on blogs.

Yes. Bush has done his best to destroy our wonderful country. But, we will survive. 13 months and we will be well rid of him and no matter who is elected we will somehow get back on track. We are not polarized in our hate of Bush and his war mongering, war profiteering policies. Blair is gone and Bush is next.

We are united in our disdain for Bush and in our belief that our country is going down the path, but we are polarized in the ways to put our country back on the track for the needs and wants of our country

Yes, I think so. If you listen to the Republican Candidates they talk about Hillary Clinton like she is some sort of disease. It's funny because psychopaths do the same thing with their intended prey.

Sadly, yes. The Republicans have worked dilligently to put Americans at each other's throats. ("Your either in favor of the war or you support the terrorists."}
As Lincoln said,"A house divided will not stand."
