The dollar will likely regain its strength on the global market given that the US economy improves. Currencies are tied to a lot of different factors, but since the US is pretty much the largest economy in the world it would be highly unlikely unless major shifts happened that the dollar wouldn't regain some strength, or at least stabilize relatively soon. Part of the issue is that the economy is slow now, it's also that we are dealing with a huge national debt, and a trade deficit (we are importing more than we are exporting). As long as the US figures out some economic issues it will only be a matter of time before the dollar regains value.

I wouldn't say that it's worthless, just not nearly as valuable as it once was.

Yea, I think it can regain some of it's value in the long run. The US will have to assert fiscal discipline though and stop the printing presses for a few years, but it can be done.

They have been for a while now. Although you purchase many things with it, nothing is backing the dollar such as gold. In the old days, there was so much value in things like gold and silver because that's what people would trade with. As long as inflation increases and foreign countries continue to convert the dollar into other currencies and the national debt continues, the dollar will continue to sink.

Is really not that big of a deal everything is the same price worldwide. I was overseas this year I went to Portugal, Cypress, Bahrain, and Dubai. The money is different but the things you are buying really cost almost the same. However, I went to Puerto Rico and things are expenive because they have to export most consumer items to the island.

The value of the dollar has been falling for more than 20 years. You'll only notice the pain if you're going to be visiting Europe.
