Okay, i totally disconnected everything.

now i have a Dlink ethernet broadband router too...

so, i have a blue cable in that which is connected to my phone jack, a white cable which is connected to my linksys router in the internet port and a black wire which is connected to an outlet.

as for the linksys router, i have the power cord which goes to the outlet , i have the ethernet cable in slot 1 which goes into the back of the computer in the ethernet slot and that white wire connected to the dlink as i previously stated. what am i doing wrong.

Hi. The Dlink is broadband, the phone connection is either dial-up or DSL and uses a phone jack. The color does not matter. The power jack is obvious (round) the broadband is an RJ-45 (looks like a large phone jack). If you have broadband, connect the last RJ-45 on the left of the Linksys to your modem, the next jack to your ethernet card in the computer.

if this a dsl connection what about the modem
