Well I tore my ACL and meniscus two days after my 16th birthday. I'm very active and tore it in a soccer game. I was pain free unless I tried to run or twist. My doctor had me wait a month to make sure all the swelling was gone by the time I had surgery. It's now been 14 months past surgery and I havent had a problem. I also chose to have a cadevar tendon( achilles tendon). At first I felt weird but honestly it's no big deal and now I can run with no pain so I'm happy with that! Are you having a cadevar, part of hamstring or something else used? Either way goodluck with your surgery and recovery!

this depends on your age you van get this fixed anytime as it is a muscle but best to do it now if you can as far as a re operation you can avoid this by taking care of your leg rehabilitation is a key factor
just don't do things later in life that you know may re injure the leg.
good luck

I think the answer would be best left to your doctor/surgeon.
